Thanksgiving Turkey4 Rules to Buying the Best-Tasting & Healthiest Turkey

With THE culinary event of the year less than a week away, now is definitely the time to start planning all aspects of your Thanksgiving Day feast. Let’s start with the bird…

The decision over which Thanksgiving turkey to buy is no longer as simple as deciding between a fresh bird or a frozen one. These days, you really have to know what to look for if you want to get the best Thanksgiving turkey. That’s the bad news.

The good news is, whether you are most interested in having the healthiest Thanksgiving turkey on the block or simply want the best-tasting one, the same rules apply.

Also, keep in mind that the same basic rules apply to buying the healthiest and best-tasting chicken too, so its a good idea to commit a few simple rules to memory for the rest of the year. Luckily, there are only four rules to follow…

easy quinoa recipeA Complete Clean Cuisine Thanksgiving Menu

I have been making pretty much the same Thanksgiving recipes ever since 2009 when I had an assignment for Natural Health Magazine to create a menu of healthy Thanksgiving recipes featuring Dr. Oz’s 10 favorite superfoods.

For example, the quinoa stuffing recipe in the photo above incorporated 3 of Dr. Oz’s superfoods (kale, quinoa and pomegranate seeds), but by adding in the pecans, sage and thyme, I was able to pull together a very “Thanksgiving-ish” flavored dish! But really, it is a delicious recipe that can really be enjoyed anytime from October to January when pomegranates are in season.
